Beauty and Liberté were terrified of people. Their hooves had grown so long that every step caused them pain. They lived in neglect until we heard about them.
Together with volunteers and the local French community, we led them step by step to the sanctuary. The first days were cautious. Now, a week later, they dare to do more.

Today they graze in the small woods behind the sanctuary. Beauty stands under an oak tree, Liberté walks along the paths that slowly form beneath their hooves. They eat leaves, feel the ground beneath them, have space. No rush. Each day a little more trust.
